В данной статье рассматриваются основные проблемные факторы республики, состояние ее экономики, участие России в обеспечении безопасности границ и миграционных процессов.

In October 2010, an expert survey was conducted on "Socio-economic and political situation in the Republic of South Ossetia". All the experts qualify the exodus among the major social and economic problems in South Ossetia. Neither the government, nor the media do not implement a policy on the return of refugees. Meanwhile, the need for this program exists, it might be realistic and achievable primarily in terms of resource and administrative support. The question of the return of South Ossetian residents on their motherland should be resolved at the state level, with the participation of society. Whole community of Ossetia, including North Ossetia, should lead a purposeful work in this direction every day.
No less important is the problem of unemployment. It creates a negative background in the South Ossetian society, gives rise to conflicts between the local population and visitors. Dissatisfaction among citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia (RSO) is due to low wages compared with the invited experts.
The third problem – the inefficiency of the governmental structures of the RSO. According to experts, there is no ordinary legal framework for the implementation of economic reforms yet. During the expert survey it was essential for us to determine the economic shifts in the country. For two years the country didn't manage to rebuild even a quarter of the damage. Among the positive factors of economic development the conduction of gas pipelines, the construction of high quality roads may be pointed out.
