В статье представлен исторический экскурс исследований музыкального мышления в психологической и музыковедческой литературе. Описаны основные отечественные и зарубежные теории развития представлений о музыкальном мышлении. В статье изложены основные подходы и взгляды к структуре и содержанию понятия музыкального мышления конца XIX начала XX века.

The article attempts to systematize the approaches of various branches of scientific thought on the concepts of "musical thinking." According to author's opinion, there is a vital need to write concerning this as far as the issues related to the content of the concept from a psychological point of view have not received a detailed consideration in literature. Even the most fundamental works of domestic (B.V. Asaf'ev, B.L. Yavorskii, M.G. Aranovskii, V.V. Medushevskii etc.) and foreign (J.F. Herbart, E. Hanslick, G. Riemann etc.) psychologists and musicologists do not contain a sufficient consideration of musical thinking, and its structure and components are reduced to the ability to understand the artistic intent of the composer by expressiveу means of musical speech.
The absence of clear understanding of musical thinking in musical psychology, its structure and components results in excessive attention and the development of some unimportant qualities in the process of musical training. In author's viewpoint, this is partly because of an actual lack of specific studies on the problems of musical thinking in musical-psychological perspective.
A special importance attains the consideration of musical thinking as a complex process of emotional and sensory reflection of music, followed by intellectual assessment of ideological and emotional content in its own performance activities, as well as serves to emphasize the importance of its development as a fundamental component of masterly performance, namely the creative understanding of music.
