Проведено исследование и по данным переписей населения 1989 и 2002 годов, сокращение численности русских в городском населении Кабардино-Балкарии составило 10 %. Говоря о сокращении численности русского городского населения в КБР необходимо отметить, что более всего оно происходит в столице. Вместе с тем в указанные годы произошло некоторое увеличение численности русского сельского населения – в основном за счет миграционного притока.

The results of the studies conducted indicate that the decline in Russian urban population of Kabardino-Balkaria was 10%.
Significant migration processes have been marked in the North Caucasus in the past two decades.
It should be noted that all ethnic groups are involved in the migration processes in the North Caucasus. Migration outflow from the North Caucasian republics to the stated subjects of the country includes 25-28 % of the population out-migration of these republics in 1989-2002.
The results of the surveys indicate an absence of gender differences of the Russian population surveyed in the migration tenets. At the same time revealed differences in migration sentiments in urban areas and rural settlements.
Materials of the research provide an opportunity to show the attitude of the population both to federal and republican government, its social and economic policies.
Survey data of the Russian population of Kabardino-Balkaria shows that economic factors (low wages, low standard of living), unemployment is not only one, but one of a major cause of out-migration of the Russian population. The second major cause of out-migration is that part of the population does not see prospects in the development of the North Caucasus region in the coming years.
