Criticism has been one of the important activities of Russian émigré writers of the first wave. The aim of our study was the characterization of critical publications of Ekaterina Bakunina. Ekaterina Bakunina is a representative of the first wave of Russian emigration. In 1923, she emigrated to France. Her novel Telo (Body) aroused in the 1930s considerable controversy in the criticism. She published her critical articles in the journal Chisla in 1932-1934 years. Journal Chisla, published in Paris 1930-1934 years, played a major role in the history of Russian literature of the first wave of emigration. The article shows the thematic preferences of author criticism and creative principles of the writer. Essays by Ekaterina Bakunina show that she is close to the principle of "human document". It can be seen in her program essay and reviews, where the author draws attention to such features of the texts as the accuracy and naturalism. The writer ps connected with the representatives of the "Parisian note" literary school by the motifs of loneliness, hopelessness, helplessness. Ekaterina Bakunina is different from most of Russian émigré writers of the first wave, because of her interest in the female subject, to the novels dedicated to a woman's life, the creativity of other female writers. The interest to naturalism, to female writer's work and the motives of loneliness constitute the main original features of her reviews.
