Исследованы фразеологизмы great society, era of good feeling, cold war / холодная война, better dead than red, ugly American, Apfel des Paris, Басманное правосудие, Jim Crow. Ввиду особенности фразеологизмов, отображающих общественно-политический сектор бытия, связанный с актуальностью номинируемых реалий в тот или иной исторический период, часть фразеологических единиц рассматриваемого сектора со временем выпадает из узуса. Ономастические компоненты, входящие в состав фразеологических единиц изучаемого сектора, различаются по специфике функционирования, в зависимости от сохранения или утери коннотативного значения онимов.

Choosing a theme of this study is due to the revival of interest to research, revealing the relationship between language and culture in modern linguistics. The phraseology fund of language is a best mirror of ethnic group national identity. The authors studies the phraseological units great society, era of good feeling, cold war, better dead than red, ugly American, Apfel des Paris, Basmannoe justice, Jim Crow. The study of phraseological units of social and political subjects lead to the following conclusions: the socio-political phraseology sector is extremely versatile and has a vivid metaphorical images; idioms of the sector undergo the processes of emergence and loss of use and of returning to the language as a result of changes in the political situation in the country and the world; specificity of functioning of the studied sector determines the relevance of certain socio-political realities, reflecting the life of the society in a certain historical period; onomastic components that make up the units of phraseological sector differ in the operation specifics, depending on the preservation or loss of connotative meaning of proper names.
