The article deals with problems of work motivation in modern society and explores the potential readiness to work without monetary stimuli. Processes of increasing automation and computerization of labour, technological unemployment and development of technologies, which are able to solve vital problems of deficit in society, pose nontrivial questions of forming new, unprecedented social-economic relationships. In this study an online survey was carried out to investigate the potential readiness of people to work for the common good without monetary reward when all basic human needs are satisfied. The results of the research have revealed a high potential readiness to spend a significant amount of time on creative and useful projects in the conditions of satisfied basic needs and nonmonetary labour relationships. The authors of the article have analyzed nonmonetary work motivation paying special attention to its gender and age specifics and have come to the following conclusions: the results of the research refute the popular belief that people will not work without a monetary incentive; these results improve the knowledge about the behaviour, values and motivation of people for labour in the conditions of satisfied basic needs and nonmonetary labour relationships.
