The article deepens the interpretation of the small genre of narrative poem as a specific narrative strategy in the literature of English romanticism. The starting point forarticle'sauthor is works of William Blake as a poet, standing at the dawn of English romanticism and representing the earliest stage of romantic ideas in Great Britain. According to the author's opinion, narrative approach that is common in large text and other relatedgenres, is the most significant proof of the prophetic poems of Blake's affiliation to the artistic practice of English romanticism. For sufficiently grounded comparisons the researcher have chosen the works of Wordsworth, Coleridge, Byron, Shelley and Keats, meeting the following requirements: poetic form, marked plot, a small (for poems) volume. Of course, the distribution of selected types of poems is not an attempt of classification, as with the development of artistic method there are different characteristic elements of narration, which have been identified in the paper as the bases of classification, they are being increasingly implemented in the framework of the same composition (for example, "Childe Harold" reveals the elements of a "monologic" cognition- journey, and historical and cultural scene.) Nevertheless, the author makes an attempt to select the most specific texts, in the most visual form using one or another type of narrative. Hypothesis of this research is the assumption that even the kind of narrative strategies outlined by the proximity of Blake's aesthetic quest to become the present argument for the recognition of the need to read in the context of romantic poetry and philosophy of his time. The result of comparing of narrative strategies of Blake'spoems and poems of other English romantics is a conclusion that there is a fundamental typological unity of narrative strategies, structuring the poem of English romanticism.
