Актуальность темы статьи «Гражданско-патриотическое воспитание в Республике Марий Эл» обусловлена пристальным вниманием общества к вопросам патриотического воспитания граждан. В статье представлены обобщенные результаты исследования гражданско-патриотического воспитания в республике с 80-х годов XX века по настоящее время.

The article sounds up to date as modern society pays much attention to the problem of civil and patriotic education of its citizens. The article summons the experience in the sphere of civil-patriotic education of youth in the Mari Republic since the 1980s till present time.
The object of our research is the content and the forms of civil and patriotic education in the republic at different stages of its historical development. The aim of the research is to learn and to summon the experience of the work in the mentioned sphere since the end of the last century up to present moment. While working out the author used a method of comparative analysis of scientific sources which allows to determine the peculiarities of the process and to estimate the meaning of the activities conducted for the society and the state. The author has come to the conclusion that issues of civil and patriotic education should always be in the area of serious attention of the government bodies as the lack of such activity unavoidably leads to the political indifference and civil passivity of the people. So it happened at the end of the 1990s. The revision of social values has come to the revival of the process of civil-patriotic education. Its new forms have appeared: the author gives examples of civil and patriotic education by means of school governance, Youth Parliament, through the activities of children's clubs and voluntary organizations. The author points out some factors that make this process complicated and offers the wide implementation of valuable-based approach as one of the ways of solving the problems appeared. The author does hope that the results of the research will be interesting for specialists engaged in the sphere of civil and patriotic education and to those who is interested in the problems of modern pedagogics.
